About Savannah, the artist, illustrator, zine-folder, comic-book lover, mentor, teacher, papermaker, printmaker, designer, and community curator...
Biography
Savannah Flores (she/they) is a working emerging artist who recently graduated from Cornell University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Design Innovation & Strategy and is currently based in Dallas, Texas. She has held multiple roles in community-centered public art projects, including serving as a studio assistant and production manager for established artists at Cornell University’s Printmaking Facilities. She has garnered national and regional recognition in the fine arts and publication, having been featured in the Ithaca Book and Zine Fair and Printed Matter, and as a finalist in the New York Academy of Art’s 2024 AXA Prize. Currently, Savannah is the Fall Events Intern at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN. She will also be the Printmaking Fellow at Vermont Studio Center for January 2026.
Artist Statement
Savannah uses the body as a metaphor for intergenerational trauma in first-generation minority households through processes of printmaking and papermaking. Her visceral layering of handmade paper, silhouettes, and archival images expresses the enduring impact of settler colonialism and assimilation on the individual and the collective. To disrupt these colonial structures, Savannah represents bodies in migration, speaking to and colliding with colorful, abstract worlds that encompass a hereditary past/present space. Her work highlights the rawness of disrupted mother-child relationships resulting from these structures. Her work is a homage to mothers and grandmothers who attempt to heal their wounds through their daughters' experiences, often mirroring the same pain they've experienced. Savannah’s work aims to demonstrate that colonial structures and assimilation continue to impact millions of families today.

Her innovative approach to digital art also earned her the Ezra Colin Cornell Digital Media Award in 2023, which included a $3,000 stipend to support independent digital media projects. From 2023 to 2025, Savannah received consecutive Creative Research Grants, enabling the development of conceptually rigorous and technically advanced work.
